The radiator fan enclosure is a housing that mounts to and surrounds the radiator, with an opening on the other side just large enough for the cooling fan. The jacket ensures that all air drawn in by the fan passes through the radiator, for optimal engine cooling. Any part of the fan jacket that is broken will cause air to be drawn from around the radiator instead of through it, potentially causing overheating.
